Summary of Our Recommendation for Nitro-Phos Weed & Feed Fertilizer with Trimec
Hi, I’m Michael with Houston Grass. And today I would like to talk about some of our fertilizers. In this video, I’d like to talk about our recommended springtime fertilizer and weed killer, the Nitro-Phos Weed & Feed with the 15-5-10 that uses Trimec instead of Atrazine as its active ingredient.
When Should You Use Weed and Feed
You would generally put it out mid-February to mid-March in the Houston area. And you want to follow the directions on the back of the bag. According to what spreader you have, the bag will tell you what setting to put it on.
The directions on this weed and feed are to let the grass get a little bit taller. Don’t put it on a freshly mowed yard. Ideally, you put it out when the grass is damp, like dew or fresh rain, and then you want to let it dry and stick to the leaves. You let it dry, and you let it sit there a couple of days. And that’s how the active ingredient kills the clovers and broadleaf weeds and whatnot it’s designed to do. Then you would water your lawn a couple of days later to get the fertilizer active.
So, that bag covers about 10,000 square feet, I believe. And if you have any questions about it, please feel free to give us a call at 281-431-7441.
