Raleigh St. Augustine is the only variety we keep in stock at our office, and it’s normally the only grass we sell by the piece or half pallet.
All other grass varieties and larger quantities of Raleigh St. Augustine are harvested to your order.
Even for St. Augustine, it’s always a good idea to call and check to ensure we have what you need before driving out to our office. We do run out of grass, or we may be in between loads.
We also have quantity discounts so call for a quote.
This is the 2nd time I’ve ordered zoysia from y’all. Last year I picked up a pallet at your facility – the grass looks great. This recent order was four pallets for my new house, and it was delivered on time. The grass looks great – I can’t wait to see it in the yard. I won’t get my grass from anywhere else.

After 2 years of struggling with the sod laid down over construction debris and sand by our homebuilder we decided to either have a layer of sand or topsoil put over the existing grass or replace the grass. We had seen Houston Grass South many times from Hwy 6, so after a Google search, watching Michael in their YouTube videos and going to look at a sample of their Raleigh St. Augustine, we decided to replace our grass. Shannon in the office recommended 2 installers and when everything was scheduled, she made the payment process easy. The pallets of grass were delivered as promised and are high quality, beautifully green, and lush. Installation is ongoing, but that picture you’ll see when you Google “GREEN with envy” is a group photo of our neighbors. Thank you Houston Grass South for answering questions and for delivering an off-the-charts high quality local product that is affordable and showcases our home.

Google ReviewNitro-Phos Fertilizer Prices
- Nitro-Phos Imperial doesn’t have any weed killer in it, so it’s the fertilizer to use if weeds are not a problem in your lawn. It’s less expensive because it does not include a weed killer. It will give your yard a good boost for the springtime, which around the Houston area is usually mid-February to mid-March. The bag covers about 6,000 square feet.
- Apply Nitro-Phos St. Augustine Weed & Feed with Atrazine to a freshly mowed yard, or when your grass is not tall. After you put it out, you water it in thoroughly. That activates the chemical to kill the weeds. You get an excellent green-up, and a good weed kill with this weed and feed.
- You do have to be careful because Atrazine is the active ingredient. I would not recommend using it year after year. It should not be used on Bermuda grass or Zoysia grass. It could also be tough on your oak trees.
- Nitro-Phos Weed & Feed with Trimec is recommended for St. Augustine, Bermuda grass and Zoysia grass.
- You would apply it mid-February to mid-March in the Houston area. The directions on this weed and feed are to let the grass get a little bit taller. Don’t put it on a freshly mowed yard. Ideally, you put it out when the grass is damp, like dew or fresh rain. You let it dry, and you let it sit there a couple of days. That’s how the Trimec kills the clovers and broadleaf weeds. Then you would water your lawn a couple of days later to get the fertilizer active.
Fifty percent of the nitrogen is slow release for less nitrogen run-off.
Feeds up 12 to 16 weeks.
- Nitro-Phos Superturf Fertilizer is what you would use in the late spring or early summer, probably May or June in the Houston area. It’s a 19-4-10 combination and covers about 7,000 or 8,000 square feet. Make sure you put it out with a spreader and never just throw it out by hand.
- It has two different types of fertilizer in it. The regular fertilizer with the quick release gives you a good green-up. Some of the fertilizer has a coating that lets the nitrogen in that fertilizer release slowly into the soil. It also will get you through most of the summer without having to fertilize again.
- The Nitro-Phos Fall Special Fertilizer combination is an 8-12-16. What you’re looking for in the fall is not a real green-up of your grass. You’re just trying to give your grass some nutrition and key ingredients to get your lawn good and healthy going into the wintertime and to help it come out strong in the spring.
Lawn Chemicals
- Wisdom is a granular lawn insecticide. It comes in a 25-pound bag, and it is sand impregnated with bifenthrin. You put it out with your spreader. If you’ve got chinch bugs or grub worms and insects like that, Wisdom will kill them. It’s an outstanding value, and it covers a lot of square footage. Again, it looks like sand, but it’s been impregnated with the bifen insecticide.
- You put it out with your spreader according to the directions, and you water it in. When the water hits, it activates that bifen and washes it off that sand and into the soil where it can do some good.
- Cyonara is a liquid lawn insecticide that you apply by attaching the container to the end of your hose. You turn the water on, click this button, and spray it out. You would use this chemical for sod webworms, chinch bugs, and many other insects that damage Houston area lawns.
- I would do two applications minimum if I had sod webworms or the chinch bugs. I like to walk backward, so I’m not walking through the chemical and just kind of wave it back and forth as I walk slowly backward. It does a fantastic job.
