Hi, I’m Michael with Houston Grass. Today we’re talking about some of our products here. In particular, I would like to talk about the Nitro-Phos Barricade Preemergence Herbicide.
How Barricade Preemergence Works
What Preemergence does is create a barrier in the soil that keeps the weeds from ever coming up. It doesn’t actually kill weeds. But if you put this out three times a year in the Houston area, it keeps a lot of weeds from ever coming up.
When to Apply Barricade
Around the Houston area, the first application is usually in February. The applications would be in February, May, and then in the fall about when you would put out your Fall Special Fertilizer. That would be October or November.
This bag treats up to 5,000 square feet. There are directions on the back of the bag as to how exactly to put it out, depending on the type of spreader that you have. It does a good job.
Again, it doesn’t kill weeds, and it doesn’t prevent all weeds, but it does a good job of keeping away a lot of the weeds that we contend with here in the Houston area.
