Why Might You Buy TexTurf 10 Bermuda Grass for Your Next Sod Project?
TexTurf 10 Bermuda grass offers great durability and traffic tolerance in a medium-bladed grass. It’s often used in athletic fields and in lawns where its ability to repair gouges and erase wear marks is important. Like other Bermuda grasses, TexTurf 10 requires full sun and will not do well if it’s laid in areas of partial sun or shade. Summary of Michael’s Video on TexTurf 10 Bermuda Grass Sod
Here we are at Houston Grass. Today, we’re going to talk a little bit about the different varieties of grass that we carry. We’re going to start down here with one of our Bermuda grasses that we carry called TexTurf 10.
The TexTurf 10 is a close cousin to Common Bermuda, which is one that you would find naturally occurring in this part of the world. Common Bermuda though is kind of a stringy, leggy-looking grass. The TexTurf 10 just takes some of the features of the common Bermuda and makes the grass look much better.
The best thing about the TexTurf 10 compared to Common Bermuda grass, other than its greater density and looking better, is that it doesn’t produce near as many seed heads. You’ll notice in Common Bermuda grass, if you don’t mow for about a week, the seed heads pop up, and then it’s got that little three-pronged thing that comes up. Those are seeds from the grass. If you look out across an area of Common Bermuda grass and you have a whole lot of those seed heads, those are kind of ugly.
The TexTurf 10 doesn’t get that. Like I said, it’s also a denser, finer-bladed turf, so it does look nicer aesthetically. If you compare the three Bermuda grasses, say the Common Bermuda grass to the TexTurf 10, and the Tifway 419, the Tifway 419 is the finer-bladed Bermuda grass. I would also say it’s denser and more carpet-feeling. The TexTurf 10 Bermuda grass is somewhere in the middle in appearance between Common Bermuda and Tifway 419.
TexTurf 10 Bermuda grass is a good grass if you’ve got a wide-open area with lots of sun and you want good traffic tolerance and things like that. Or maybe if you just don’t like the look of the Tifway 419 Bermuda grass, the TexTurf 10 could be a good alternative for you.
We grow our TexTurf 10 Bermuda grass on our family farm in Bay City, TX, where our family has been in the grass business for over 30 years. We deliver our grass sod to Pearland, Missouri City, Sugar Land, Katy and all over the Houston area, so give us a call at 281-431-7441 to talk about your next grass sod project.
