Michael, the owner, personally delivered 3 pallets of SOD and he was 10 minutes early getting to the job site even before me! Great service, I hope to build a strong business relationship for all of my SOD and turf needs. Great job

GatherUp ReviewSummary of the When to Sod Grass Video
– When to sod grass? I’m not sure I totally understand that one, but I assume someone is inquiring about the best time of year probably to lay grass, and that’s probably in the top five questions that we get asked. It is often the first question we get asked on the telephone when people call us.
When’s the best time of year to plant grass? Our answer is always March, April, and May. The temperatures are moderate, and the grass is growing at its fastest rate and it’s going to attach itself to the ground and root down the fastest. You’re not going to have a giant water bill to given the rain we often get in the springtime, and that’s just the most forgiving time of year to plant grass.
Now, that does not mean that you can’t lay sod grass other times of the year. Today is December 12th, and we’re selling grass at our office. We have grass out there right now and people are coming through continuously.
When to Sod Grass May Be Winter if You Have a New House
We’ll sell grass all year except Christmas week for the most part. If you’ve just bought a new house, and you’re surrounded by dirt and mud, you need grass now. A yard covered by dormant sod grass that’s going to cover that mud is 100 times better than a mud pit for people to drag into your house. And when the weather warms in March, that dormant grass starts growing and rooting into your soil, and you’ve got a head start toward a beautiful lawn.
So, it depends on if you’re asking about best time of year, definitely March, April or May, but you can plant grass year-round. The watering requirements for laying sod in the winter may be a little bit different, but we can guide you. So just give us a call and we’ll steer you in the right direction.
