This video is Houston Grass South Owner, Michael Romine, talking about “how much is sod grass” at Houston Grass South.
This is a summary of Michael’s video on How Much is Sod Grass.
How much is sod? Well again the sod versus the grass term, how much is our grass? How much is our sod? Same thing in our eyes but we have several different varieties of grass, and if you look at our website, you can see pictures of all of them.
We sell three different types of St. Augustine grass sod, a couple types of Bermuda and Zoysia. And some of them have the same price point and some of them are different. It looks like at the time of this video, which is early 2016, it’s looking like our pricing is going to pretty much remain the same as it was last year.
You Can Buy Raleigh St. Augustine Grass Sod by The Piece
We sell most of our grass is by the pallet but the Raleigh St. Augustine grass sod is sold by the 16 inch by 24 inch piece and it’s going to be $1.25 per piece [$1.35 in 2018].
We Have Quantity Discounts for Most Grass Sod Varieties
We do give a quantity discount once you get a half of a pallet. And that is for the Raleigh St. Augustine as well as both types of Bermuda grass, the Tifway 419 Bermuda grass and the TexTurf 10 Bermuda grass.
For those three grass varieties, there are quantity discounts once you buy so many pallets the price does go down. I think it’s every 10 pallets and then once you get to a truckload, which is 16 pallets, you get a little bit of a price break.
The Zoysia that we carry and sell most often is the Palisades Zoysia. We get a lot of requests for it. There are no price breaks on it. It’s in limited supply, and it’s just very expensive to grow and everything about it is more expensive. It’s quite an impressive grass though. We also carry Palmetto St. Augustine which is our shade tolerant St. Augustine. Again all those grass varieties are sold by the pallet except for the regular Raleigh St. Augustine and you can buy half pallets and pieces of Raleigh St. Augustine grass sod.
Call for Delivery and Installation Pricing Too
Delivery prices depend on where your project is located so we’ll need your project address to give you a price for delivery. Of course, you can always pick up your grass sod at our office and save the delivery charge. If you’re planning on picking up your own sod, you’ll want to arrive at our office with a vehicle and/or trailer up to the task.
Installation costs depend on the accessibility of your project area, any work that’s needed to prepare the site for sod installation, and the size of the project. We work with an installer who will go to your home or project site and give you a written estimate or he’ll text the estimate to you.
